Aerosmith

Aerosmith is an American hard rock band, sometimes referred to as 'The Bad Boys from Boston' and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band".

Their style, rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, glam, and rhythm and blues, which has inspired many subsequent rock artists.

'Aerosmith' was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, originally in a band together called the Jam Band, met up with singer Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. By 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, and the band began developing a following in Boston.

They were signed to Columbia Records in 1972 and released a string of multi-platinum albums, beginning with their 1973 eponymous debut album.

The origins of Aerosmith can be traced to the late 1960s in Sunapee, New Hampshire.

Steven Tyler was a drummer and vocalist originally from Yonkers, New York, who had been in a series of relatively unsuccessful bands such as The Vic Tallarico Orchestra, The Strangeurs/Chain Reaction, The Chain, Fox Chase, and William Proud. In 1969, while vacationing in Sunapee, he met Joe Perry, who was at the time washing dishes at the Anchorage in Sunapee Harbor, and playing in a band called the Jam Band with bassist Tom Hamilton and drummer David "Pudge" Scott. This meeting would eventually lead to the formation of Aerosmith.

The band took the name Aerosmith, suggested by drummer Joey Kramer, after considering The Hookers and Spike Jones.

After forming the band and finalizing the lineup in 1971, Aerosmith started to garner some local success doing live shows.

'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' is a hit single by American rock band Aerosmith. It was taken from the Armageddon soundtrack and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 (a first for the band after 28 years together). The song stayed at number one for four weeks from September 5 to September 26, 1998, introducing Aerosmith to a new generation of fans. The song also stayed at #1 for several weeks in several other countries. The song rose steadily up the charts in the UK, peaking at number four in November 1998 and becoming Aerosmith's highest charting song in the UK to date.

'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' was written primarily by Diane Warren. She stated in her compilation album Diane Warren Presents Love Songs that the song was originally meant for Celine Dion.

The song was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song. American Idol judge Simon Cowell labelled the song "one of the great songs of all time" during the show's seventh season. It remains one of Aerosmith's most popular songs.

The music video for this song was shot in the Minneapolis Armory in 1998. It features the band playing the song intertwined with scenes from Armageddon. It features a cameo appearance by Liv Tyler, who incidentally is Steven Tyler's daughter and plays Grace Stamper in the film. Liv previously had a role in the music video for the band's other song, 'Crazy'.

Несмотря на созвучие к книге Синклера Льюиса «Эроусмит» оно не имеет никакого отношения. Согласно книге «Walk This Way», Aerosmith было школьным прозовищем Джоя Крамера. Приставку aero он выбрал потому, что альбом Гарри Нильсона назывался Aeriel Ballet.

Первый концерт группы Aerosmith состоялся в Нипмикской региональной старшей школе. После него Стивен Виктор Талларико сменил имя на Стивена Тайлера, а название Aerosmith окончательно утвердилось за коллективом (был ещё один вариант — The Hookers, «Вербовщики провокаторов»). Персонажи, изображающие участников Aerosmith, появлялись в компьютерных играх «Revolution X» и «Quest for Fame», песни группы включены в саундтреки.

Для записи «I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing» и съёмок в клипе пригласили симфонический оркестр в составе 52 человек. Обычный шаг, но его группе оказалось мало: оркестр нарядили в скафандры по цене 2 с половиной тысячи долларов каждый — в сумме самые дорогие костюмы, когда-либо созданные для видеоклипа..
